CFSI Releases Latest Reporting Conflict Minerals Reporting Template

(Note: The CFSI made an additional update to the CMRT template. Version 5.0 was released on 5/17/2017. The updated blog can be found here.)

CMRT Version 4.20 Integrated in Source Intelligence's  Platform

One of the most important efforts to trace whether conflict minerals are entering global supply chains is the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) developed by the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI).

As highlighted on the CFSI website, the template provides a standardized system that “facilitates the transfer of information through the supply chain regarding mineral country of origin and smelters and refiners being utilized. The template also facilitates the identification of new smelters and refiners to potentially undergo an audit via the CFSI’s Conflict-Free Smelter Program.”

The template is periodically updated to reflect new smelters, changes in regulations and other changes in the global supply chain network. CFSI has now released the CMRT version 4.20, which is now integrated into Source Intelligence’s robust SaaS platform to provide customers the most efficient and comprehensive data collection, validation and reporting system.

Source Intelligence® (SI) is the first vendor member of CFSI, an initiative of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC).

SI, through various partnerships and its own internal teams, has created comprehensive databases and supply chain tracking systems that list smelters and refiners not processing minerals used to fund deadly conflicts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Verifying conflict-free smelters is a critical step in the ethical-sourcing process.

“As an official CFSI member, Source Intelligence can easily and quickly integrate the latest CMRT templates into our system as well as provide customers the most up-to-date information about smelters and other mineral sourcing issues,” said Jennifer Kraus, SI’s Chief Scientific Officer. “Suppliers are assured of utilizing the most efficient inputting templates, ease of customization, and providing their customers with the most comprehensive compliance reports.”

CMRT Template Important Updates

Per CFSI’s recent announcement, CMRT template version 4.20 offers important updates including:

  • Translation improvements for all updated instructions and definitions
  • Enhancements that do not conflict with IPC-1755
